When Worries Weigh You Down, Trust in the Lord
Scripture References:
- Psalm 94:19 – “When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.”
- Proverbs 29:25 – “Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.”
- Matthew 11:28 – “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Introduction:
We are living in troubling times. People are struggling with fear and uncertainty. The government is cutting back on programs that feed children, support seniors, and help struggling families. The price of food is rising, illnesses like the flu and even tuberculosis are taking lives, and violence seems to be increasing. Many people are asking, “What will we do?”
But today, I bring you a message of hope and encouragement! No matter what is happening around us, we have a God who is faithful, and He has given us His Word to sustain us in times of trouble.
Point: Trust in God, Not in the Systems of Man
Proverbs 29:25 reminds us that the fear of man is a trap, but trusting in God keeps us safe. Many people rely on the government, jobs, or other systems for security. But when these systems fail, God never does!
Real-Life Examples:
- A single mother struggling to feed her children because food assistance has been cut.
- A senior citizen worried about losing free meals and healthcare.
- A farmer facing labor shortages and wondering how to provide for his family.
- A grieving family who lost a loved one to illness and feels overwhelmed.
All these situations are real, but the truth of God’s Word is greater than our problems.
Encouragement from God’s Word:
- God is our Provider – Philippians 4:19: “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”
- God gives us peace in troubled times – John 14:27: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.”
- God calls us to cast our cares on Him – 1 Peter 5:7: “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
Life Application Principle:
When worry and fear try to take over, replace them with faith and action! Instead of focusing on what you don’t have, focus on what God has already promised!
- Pray daily and give your worries to God.
- Seek God’s wisdom on how to manage resources.
- Help others – be the hands and feet of Jesus by sharing, encouraging, and serving.
Call to Action:
- Give your worries to God – Take time this week to pray and surrender your fears to the Lord.
- Encourage someone else – Speak life to a friend or neighbor who is struggling.
- Trust God to make a way – Even when things seem uncertain, believe that God is in control and will provide.
Closing Encouragement:
No matter how dark the times may seem, God is still in control! When anxiety tries to overwhelm you, stand on His promises! He has never failed, and He never will.
Let’s put our trust in the Lord and walk in faith, knowing that He will make a way. Amen!
